Michael Haneke's disturbing, Palme d'Or-nominated masterpiece returns to Polish cinemas nearly three decades after its release!
Anna, her husband Georg and their several-year-old son go out of town in their new car, pulling a pretty wooden boat on a trailer. When they reach the lake house, they quickly and with relief forget about the hustle and bustle and problems of the big city. The idyllic vacation ends as soon as a knock on the door sounds. The threshold of their house is crossed by two neatly dressed young men, who quickly begin a cruel game with the unsuspecting family.
„Funny Games” debuted at the 1997 Cannes Film Festival and quickly won not only the applause of critics, but also the status of a film that changes our view of cinema. Breaking the fourth wall and building an extremely clever narrative structure, Michael Haneke simultaneously shocks the viewer and forces us to answer questions we don't feel like asking ourselves - why do we enjoy watching violence? And why is evil so appealing?
On November 14, we will invite you to cinemas for a screening of the original 1997 auteur version of the film.
