„Kitchen Revolution” is a film where „On Knives” meets „Parasite” and „In a Triangle.” It's a cinematic offering perfect for summer evenings.
In 1918, World War I is coming to an end, but a flu pandemic is raging at its best in the United States. In the shadow of the lockdowns of the time, the mysterious chef Floyd Monk (played by the charismatic Peter Sarsgaard) shows up at the stately estate of a thoughtful landowner. A disturbing suspicion also quickly arises that perhaps Floyd is adept at using knives and other dangerous tools not just in the kitchen and not just for cooking.
Monk's Machiavellian intrigues and manipulations lead to a gradual change in the balance of power and domestic power relations. A real game of class and wandering up and down the social ladder begins. Beautiful sets and costumes create the setting for a brilliant combination of comedy and thriller with an energy that, according to foreign critics, could form the basis of a subversive comedy series.
