Park Chan-wook's uncompromising masterpiece back in theaters for the 20th anniversary of its release!
Leading an ordinary life, Oh Dae-su (Choi Min-sik) is kidnapped and trapped in a small room. All the while, his only contact with the world is a television set. It is from the TV that he learns that his wife has been brutally murdered and he has become the prime suspect. When the man is suddenly freed after fifteen years, he decides to find the man who destroyed his life.
The middle part of Park Chan-wook's „Revenge Trilogy” won nearly seventy awards and nominations at the time of its release, including the Grand Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival, and for millions of viewers it represented the first encounter with the extraordinary Korean cinema. Contributing to this was Quentin Tarantino himself, who insisted in many interviews that „Oldboy” was his favorite film.
