Operation Maldoror officially never existed. There is no trace of it in the media or police records. When a series of kidnappings of underage girls shook Belgium in the mid-1990s, and citizens and the press were furious at police ineptitude, the head of the gendarmerie set up a special cell to find the kidnappers and their victims. In its ranks stood Paul Chartier, a young and impulsive policeman who undertakes a hopeless struggle for justice. In the course of his investigation, he finds himself on the trail of a conspiracy of silence climbing to the highest levels of government. He quickly realizes that in order to catch the criminals, he will have to defeat not only the criminals, but also his own superiors. And his desire to save his children from a fate worse than death will drive him to the brink of madness.

Based on a true story that shook Belgium in the 1990s, „Operation Maldoror” is a police thriller acclaimed at the Venice Film Festival that recalls the best productions of the genre, such as „Seven,” „Zodiac,” „Labyrinth” and the „Mindhunter” series. Director Fabrice du Welz leads the viewer straight to the core of darkness and forces him to confront the greatest degenerates.
